We are thrilled that you will be joining us in May to celebrate our wedding in Mallorca. The island is an incredibly special place for us, and we can’t wait to welcome you to the Tramuntana mountains. We recognise that for many of you this means a long journey to a potentially unknown part of the world. But fear not! We have insider information and local knowledge to share that we hope will make your journey and stay as easy and relaxing as possible.
Where
Where You Will Be

Puigpunyent is a sleepy village 20 minutes Northwest of Palma. This is where the wedding ceremony will take place. The reception will be at Son Burguet, a short drive away. All of the key locations on the map above are no more than a 5 or 10 minute drive. If renting, smaller cars are advised due to the narrow, winding mountain roads.

Travel
How to Travel
On the wedding day, transportation will be provided from the church to the reception. We ask that all other transportation is booked independently. There is ample parking space in Puigpunyent should you wish to leave a car overnight.
Car Rental
We highly recommend renting a car should you wish to explore the island. Our trusted previous rental car companies are Record Go, Sixt, and Ok Mobility. We advise everyone to avoid Goldcar. Some car rental companies offer pick up and drop off at the terminal, others require a bus journey to a depot nearby; worth noting if you have heavy luggage.
Important: Some rental car companies require drivers to hold an International Driving License / International Driving Permit. If you don’t have one, you might get hit with an expensive fee on top of your booking. Please check with your rental car company if one is not necessary and make sure to bring that written confirmation with you in case you are challenged. If necessary, you can apply for this in advance, via your local post office or online. In the US, you can apply through the AAA for approximately $20. In the UK, you can fill out a form for an IDL, which should cost approximately £5. Request the form for the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic 1968 (yes, really!) as some postmasters won’t know how to help you.
Taxis
If you plan to taxi from Puigpunyent, please book in advance. Taxis are more readily available in Palma and will cost approximately €30 for the 25 min journey. If booking a journey from Puigpunyent or Galilea, we highly recommend calling Dave Weber – a friend of the family – first. Hailing from Michigan, Dave has been in Mallorca for over 30 years and is a trusted local expert. Please call Dave in advance to arrange travel as he is likely to be busy ferrying other guests. The local taxi driver for Puigpunyent and Galilea will also be available. Contact information is below. N.B. Uber will work in Palma, but not in Puigpunyent or the surrounding villages.

Buses
There is a brilliant bus that runs every couple of hours from Galilea, to Puigpunyent, on to Palma, and back, costing approximately €3. Though it runs infrequently, it is air-conditioned and a handy way to get around if you prefer not to drive. We will post the bus timetable on the website for reference.
The Sóller Train
For those wanting to explore the island via other means, we must recommend the Sóller train. The charming wooden train leaves Palma every 2-3 hours, trundling North into the mountains, through Bunyola, and finishing in the historic town of Sóller. A return ticket is €30 and can be purchased on their website 7 days in advance. More information will be on the website.
Wear
What to Wear
On the wedding day, we ask that gentlemen wear either linen, summer or morning suits and summer or cocktail attire for ladies. The end of May in Mallorca is usually warm, but not too hot. We are hoping for mid-20s °C / mid-70s °F, so consider bringing a light jacket or shawl because temperatures drop will drop in the evening, and it can get quite chilly. For any other events on the Friday or Sunday, please come as you wish.
Accommodation
Where to Stay
To limit travel and or taxi journeys, we recommend finding accommodation in the villages of Puigpunyent or Galilea, though these will become booked up quickly. Palma is only a 25min drive and has a very good range of hotels, apartments, and AirBnBs. The villages of Establiments, Esporles, or Es Capdellà are even closer and are likely to have some villas and AirBnBs available to book. Those that wish to see more of the island may be drawn to Valldemossa, Deía, or Sollér which are all beautiful, but are approximately 40-50mins drive from where the wedding will be taking place.
Eat
Where to Eat
Mallorca has a brilliant food scene, and we have some favourites that we would like to share with you all. We will upload a map that covers much of the island. In Puigpunyent and Galilea, we recommend the following:
Puigpunyent
Mercat Tramuntana – the newest restaurant in the village and with great food.
Sa Vinya – we will be dining here on Friday evening but is also a good lunchtime spot.
Son Net – this hotel is expensive but has a brilliant restaurant. Be warned re the prices!
Bar Es Pont – a great place for drinks, but we would advise you to go elsewhere for food.
Galilea
Café Sa Plaça – stunning views from the terrace & great food, especially the paellas. Book early, as it’s a local favourite and can be difficult to bag a table.
Trattoria & Lounge – a good place for a quick (and very thin!) pizza, with great views.
Further Info
Puigpunyent has two small supermarkets, a bakery, a bank with an ATM, and a chemist/pharmacy. For larger shopping, there is a Carrefour on the edge of Palma, near Son Moix. The supermarkets are shut on Sundays, so stock up beforehand. There is no supermarket or shop of any kind in Galilea, but Puigpunyent is a short drive down the mountain.
Important: In some villas and AirBnBs in the mountains, the tap water is not for drinking. To stay safe and well, we advise drinking bottled water.
